Shepherd's Staff Missionary Criteria

Dear Missionary Candidate:

Please answer each of the following questions to see if Shepherd's Staff is a good fit for you and your home church.

If you're not sure about whether you can answer "yes" or if you would like further clarity regarding any of these questions, please contact the Shepherd's Staff office at: (505) 248-9849

  • Are you or your spouse (if married) a US citizen?
  • Do you plan to live and serve in a country other than the United States?
  • Are you committing to at least one year of continuous service in that country?
  • Do you serve in any capacity in any of the ministries of your "home church"? (The church where you are currently a member).
  • Is the leadership of your "home church" aware of, and supportive of your plan to move forward as a missionary?
  • Do you understand that joining Shepherd's Staff for the sole/primary purpose of accessing its Group Health Plan or 403b Retirement plan is not permitted, and that a minimum monthly salary established by Shepherd's Staff is required to qualify for enrollment in our Group Health Plan?
  • Are you willing and able to raise the financial support necessary to fulfill the vision God has given you?
  • Do you agree to permit Shepherd's Staff to administrate 100 percent of the funds that you will raise to fulfill the vision God has given you?
  • Are you planning on serving in a country that would NOT be considered "high-risk" (Iran, Iraq, North Korea, etc.)?
  • Do you intend to have (as a minimum) a 90-day departure window from the time you are accepted by Shepherd’s Staff until you leave for the mission field?
  • Do you agree to receive missionary specific pre-field training prior to departure for the field?

If you answered "yes" to all of the above questions, you are likely a good fit, and you may proceed with the pre-application.
